AUO advances 3D and AI for smarter, safer care: what healthcare teams can use now

At the 2025 Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan, AUO and AUO Display Plus (ADP) brought a complete view of where surgical imaging and AI-assisted care are heading. Under the theme "Beyond 3D, Precision AI," the group and 12 partners showed working solutions that link 3D visualization, real-time image streaming, edge computing, and clinical AI across surgery, diagnostics, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It's a practical push: clearer depth for microsurgery, faster clinical interpretation at the edge, and digital workflows in TCM and dentistry that reduce rework and improve throughput.

3D microsurgery imaging: depth, comfort, and team coordination

ADP's new 3D Microsurgery Imaging Solution, developed with Microinstruments Medical Technology and DET Corporation, integrates the MMI Symani Surgical System with Mitaka surgical microscopes. Surgeons get an ultra-clear stereoscopic field for delicate work on nerves, vessels, and lymphatics.

Lead surgeons can move from microscope eyepieces to a 4K 3D medical display for a high-depth view that reduces fatigue during long cases. Assisting surgeons can watch the same stereoscopic scene on a naked-eye 3D display, improving instrument handoffs and overall flow in the OR.

  • See sub-millimeter structures with consistent depth cues
  • Reduce strain for primary surgeons in long-duration cases
  • Keep assistants aligned with the same stereoscopic perspective

Immersive 3D for specialized procedures and remote training

With Sunbloom Biotech, ADP introduced the MediThinQ 3D Microsurgery Solution-an immersive, low-latency, color-accurate display approach suited to hair transplantation, dental surgery, and dermatologic procedures. The goal is simple: precise visualization that holds up under repetitive, fine-motor tasks.

For education, ADP and Great Choice built a 3D Imaging Solution for Remote Surgical Training. Multi-angle, real-time streaming and recording help shorten the learning curve for complex techniques and make expert instruction easier to scale.

Regulatory traction and hospital deployment

ADP's SurgiEyes Real-time 3D Solution for Robotic Surgery-supporting real-time 3D image streaming-has received TFDA Class II medical device approval. It's already in use at several medical-center-level hospitals, including China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital.

The system has supported hundreds of Da Vinci colorectal and urological procedures, with reported gains in operational precision, efficiency, and training quality.

Edge AI with ADLINK: precision imaging at point of care

ADP and ADLINK are integrating high-performance displays, medical-grade edge computing, and image streaming to support AI-assisted interpretation where timing matters.

With NaviFUS, the Neuronavigation-guided Focused Ultrasound System combines optical navigation with transcranial focused ultrasound to direct energy to intracranial targets, temporarily open the blood-brain barrier, and improve drug delivery. Next steps include AI that fuses CT and MR for skull correction and faster treatment planning.

With Tech-Image, a Disposable Endoscopic Imaging Solution uses a single-use spinal endoscope to lower cross-infection risk. The setup integrates ADLINK's MDR-certified medical monitor and touch panel PC, giving clinicians a clear, intuitive interface that supports precise maneuvers and streamlined workflow.

TCM goes digital: pulse and tongue analysis with AI

AUO Health continues to advance a TCM Digital Detection Solution that brings quantifiable data into traditional assessments. Two software services stand out: Pulse Analysis and a Tongue Image Capturing System.

  • Pulse Analysis applies algorithms and signal processing to assess position, rate, form, force, and rhythm-supporting evaluation of vascular elasticity and cardiopulmonary function
  • Tongue Image Capturing uses color-restoration and AI recognition to surface key features, cut exam time, and improve consultation efficiency

Adoption now includes more than 10 medical institutions-among them the College of Chinese Medicine at China Medical University, Taipei City Hospital, and Ma Kuang United Clinics of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Dentistry: fewer remakes with shade-matching AI

DentLabX is highlighting a Smart Dental Lab Management Suite. Its Smart Dental Shade Matching Solution offers real-time, high-accuracy shade analysis to reduce prosthetic remakes. It earned the 2025 National Innovation Award, reflecting measurable value for clinicians and labs.

Why this matters for your team

  • Surgeons: More consistent depth and lower fatigue during microsurgery and robotic cases
  • Educators: Multi-angle 3D streaming and recording to shorten training cycles
  • IT/Biomed: Edge AI architectures that keep latency low and workflows responsive
  • TCM clinicians: Structured, visualized data to support clinical decisions and throughput
  • Dental labs and clinics: Shade-matching accuracy that reduces rework and chair time
  • Administrators: Validated deployments (TFDA Class II), lower risk of cross-infection with single-use endoscopes, and clearer ROI paths

What AUO says

"Smart healthcare depends on the strength of the ecosystem," said AUO Display Plus President Tina Wu. "By aligning display, sensing, AI, and clinical partners-from microsurgery to remote surgical training-we're improving precision, team coordination, and long-term value for providers."
