Autodesk Launches Wonder 3D to Speed Up 3D Asset Creation
Autodesk introduced Wonder 3D on March 4, a generative AI model within its Flow Studio platform that converts text and images into editable 3D assets. The tool targets professionals and new creators across game development, film, marketing, and physical prototyping.
Creating 3D characters and objects has traditionally required significant manual work. Wonder 3D reduces that burden through three core capabilities: Text to 3D generates 3D models from written descriptions, Image to 3D converts sketches and concept art into textured models, and Text to Image produces concept visuals before 3D development begins.
How the Tool Works
Text to 3D turns written prompts into detailed 3D characters, creatures, or props complete with geometry and textures. Creators can refine, remix, and reuse assets across projects.
Image to 3D takes a single sketch or reference image and generates a textured 3D model that users can adjust as development progresses. This approach bypasses traditional modeling pipelines that start from scratch.
Text to Image generates concept visuals in seconds, letting creators explore characters and styles before committing to 3D workflows.
Wonder 3D exports files in USD, STL, and OBJ formats, enabling use in other applications and supporting 3D printing and physical prototyping.
