BATDOK and FORGE-IT Transform Battlefield Medicine with AI-Driven Care and Real-Time Data Integration
BATDOK digitizes injury and treatment records from injury to recovery, improving care accuracy. FORGE-IT adds AI-driven remote monitoring, enhancing frontline medical support.

BATDOK and FORGE-IT: Advancing Battlefield Medicine
BATDOK is a digital application developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) with support from BAE Systems. It captures injury and treatment data electronically from the point of injury through recovery. This replaces traditional paper-based records, allowing medical staff to access accurate, up-to-date information for ongoing care.
The upcoming FORGE-IT program will build on BATDOK’s foundation by introducing remote patient monitoring and clinical decision support powered by embedded artificial intelligence (AI). This approach equips medical personnel with real-time, data-driven tools to improve care delivery in frontline environments.
Improving Care in High-Threat Scenarios
“At BAE Systems, our goal has always been to protect those who protect us,” said Nathaniel Wiesner, vice president and general manager of Ground Systems & Services for BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems. Through FORGE-IT, warfighters gain enhanced capabilities to provide critical medical treatment while operating under threat, increasing the chances of effective care immediately after injury.
Integrating Data for Comprehensive Health Services
Data collected through BATDOK and FORGE-IT will feed into the Department of Defense’s Joint Operational Medicine Information Systems (JOMIS) platform. This integration supports a seamless flow of medical information, aiding healthcare providers in both deployment zones and home-based medical facilities.
- Electronic injury and treatment records from point of injury to recovery
- Remote patient monitoring with AI-powered clinical decision support
- Real-time tools for frontline medical personnel
- Data integration with JOMIS for continuous care
Together, these efforts mark a key advancement in digitizing battlefield medicine, improving the speed and quality of care for military personnel.
FORGE-IT continues BAE Systems’ commitment to safeguarding military members by enhancing medical capabilities on and off the battlefield.
