Betterworks Acquires Rypple to Connect Manager Support with Performance Programs
Betterworks has acquired Rypple, an AI-native platform that helps managers coach employees and give feedback in real time. The deal, announced June 2, reflects a shift in how companies think about performance management: not as something that happens during annual reviews, but as a daily practice shaped by manager behavior.
The acquisition joins two different approaches to the same problem. Betterworks has spent years helping HR departments run structured performance programs. Rypple approaches the work from the manager's side-providing practical support for the moments when management actually occurs: preparing for one-on-ones, giving feedback, handling team conflicts, and making day-to-day decisions.
What Managers Actually Need
Rypple was built on a simple premise: managers don't need more training theory. They need help in the specific situations they face.
The platform supports managers by providing guidance when they:
- Prepare for important conversations
- Give feedback to direct reports
- Navigate team challenges
- Make coaching decisions in the flow of work
Ian Gover, Rypple's founder, said the company built the product to help managers "do the real work of leading teams." Doug Dennerline, CEO of Betterworks, framed the acquisition as an expansion of the company's focus on manager effectiveness as a driver of business performance.
Integration Will Take Time
The two companies will operate separately at first while they study how to combine them effectively. Betterworks and Rypple plan to examine manager adoption patterns, identify where their products can reinforce each other, and determine how AI-driven insights can strengthen performance workflows.
Over time, the companies expect to explore connections between manager activity data and formal performance processes, and between day-to-day coaching and enterprise-wide outcomes.
For managers, the potential benefit is clearer: access to AI for Management tools that support the work you actually do, connected to the performance programs your organization runs.
