BizTrip AI raises $1.5M to build agentic corporate travel assistants

BizTrip AI closed a fresh $1.5 million pre-seed tranche, bringing total funding to $2.5 million. The round was led by RRE Ventures, with participation from AI Fund, BAG Collective, BAG Ventures, Correlation Ventures, Sabre and 10 individual investors.

This follows Sabre's mid-January move to invest in and partner with BizTrip AI on a suite of AI corporate travel assistants. The company, named a Hot 25 Travel Startup for 2026, says the capital will go to product development, engineering hires and customer growth initiatives as demand for AI in business travel accelerates.

"Business travel remains one of the most complex and inefficient operational categories for modern companies," said Tom Romary, co-founder and CEO of BizTrip AI. "This funding allows us to continue building agentic AI capabilities that reduce friction for travelers and deliver meaningful cost savings and heightened compliance for organizations."

Why this matters for IT and product teams

  • Agentic workflows: Expect multi-step planning, tool use and policy-aware decisions. You'll need guardrails for spend, duty of care and approval flows.
  • Integrations first: Deep ties into GDS/TMC/OBT stacks (e.g., Sabre, expense, HRIS, SSO). Plan for stable APIs, rate limiting and retries.
  • Data and privacy: PNRs, receipts, itineraries and traveler profiles contain PII. Encrypt at rest/in transit, strict RBAC, audit logs and data retention controls.
  • Evaluation and safety: Set up offline evals and live A/B for intent detection, policy adherence and hallucination reduction. Track failure modes and human handoff.
  • Cost and latency: Token spend and API calls add up. Cache, ground with retrieval, and set latency budgets per user action (search, rebook, policy check).
  • Enterprise readiness: SOC 2/ISO pipelines, SLAs, incident response, and admin controls (policy configs, role-based permissions, approvals).

Hiring signals from the raise

  • LLM/agent engineers: Planning, tool orchestration, function calling, structured outputs and evaluation frameworks.
  • Data/platform engineers: Streaming ingestion, event buses, feature stores, embeddings, vector search and observability.
  • Integration engineers: GDS/TMC/OBT connectors, expense/ERP/HRIS, SSO/SCIM and webhook reliability.
  • Compliance/Trust: Privacy engineering, data governance and vendor risk management for enterprise deals.

What to watch next

  • Pilots tied to the Sabre partnership and how quickly they ship production-grade assistants.
  • Measured outcomes: T&E cost reduction, policy compliance lift, traveler CSAT and agent deflection rates.
  • Coverage breadth: International content, rebooking logic during disruptions, negotiated rates and duty-of-care integrations.
  • Admin controls: Policy modeling, approvals, budgets and analytics packaged for IT and finance.
