Buildots Secures $45M to Expand AI-Powered Construction Management Platform

Buildots Inc., a Chicago-based construction software company known for helping Intel Corp. accelerate its fab construction, has raised $45 million in a Series D funding round led by Qumra Capital. Additional investors include OG Venture Partners, TLV Partners, Poalim Equity, Future Energy Ventures, and Viola Growth. This latest investment brings Buildots’ total external funding to $166 million.

Streamlining Quality Assurance with AI

Construction projects require constant oversight to spot errors and delays early. Buildots addresses this challenge with a cloud platform that simplifies data access for quality assurance teams. Its AI assistant, Dot, allows users to retrieve detailed technical information using natural language prompts. For example, a manager can ask about the status of electrical wiring in a specific building, and Dot will provide up-to-date insights.

The platform also offers visuals, including images of targeted building sections, corresponding floor plans, and lists of unfinished tasks. It identifies potential defects and flags delays by analyzing project progress. An analytics dashboard tracks the pace of activities, such as calculating the average number of sprinklers installed weekly, enabling managers to anticipate whether deadlines will be met.

Additional Features for Project Oversight

Buildots includes a spreadsheet-like interface that helps managers monitor subcontractor payments. It also aggregates high-level metrics, like the total number of completed tasks within a month, giving project leaders a clear snapshot of progress.

The system collects data by analyzing footage from 360-degree cameras mounted on construction managers’ hard hats. The AI models powering Buildots have been trained on millions of construction-related data points, improving accuracy and relevance.

Proven Impact and Future Plans

Currently, about 50 construction companies use Buildots’ platform. Intel employs the software to support its fab network expansion, reportedly avoiding approximately four weeks of construction delays per project and reducing costs.

Roy Danon, Buildots’ co-founder and CEO, noted a shift toward long-term enterprise agreements, with multiple seven-figure contracts signed this year. The company plans to use the new funding to expand its presence in North America and develop AI features that forecast project performance based on historical data.

Why This Matters for Construction Management

  • AI-driven data access reduces time spent on manual quality checks.
  • Real-time tracking helps anticipate and avoid costly delays.
  • Integrated payment and progress monitoring simplify project oversight.
  • Visual and data insights support informed decision-making on-site.
