Button Finance Raises $5 Million Series A to Grow AI-Driven Home Equity Lending Platform
New York-based fintech Button Finance recently secured $5 million in a Series A funding round led by Hildene Capital Management, an asset manager specializing in structured credit with around $17 billion in assets. Existing investors also participated in this round.
This injection of capital comes as Button Finance’s AI-powered platform gains momentum, offering homeowners faster and broader access to their home equity in a market that has reached historic levels.
Accelerating Growth with Proven Performance
Since its founding in 2019, Button Finance has focused on simplifying home equity lending through a seamless digital platform. Their proprietary AI underwriting engine enables quick loan decisions and funding in as little as five days. This technology also expands access to qualified borrowers who have typically been underserved by traditional lenders.
Button Finance CEO Jason Harris highlighted the company’s progress: “We have scaled to over 60 employees in the past two years, nearly tripling our monthly volume in just six months—and we are just getting started.” He added that the new funding will support both product expansion and further development of the platform.
Meeting Growing Demand in a $35 Trillion Market
Homeowners in the U.S. now hold approximately $35 trillion in home equity, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. This significant wealth has driven increased demand for home equity solutions, especially as consumers look to finance renovations, consolidate debt, or improve liquidity amid higher interest rates.
Brett Jefferson, President and Co-Chief Investment Officer at Hildene, emphasized the timing and impact of Button Finance’s platform: “Their technology isn’t just innovative; it’s solving real financial challenges for everyday Americans. We are committing to powering their next billion dollars in home equity originations.”
Sound Financials and Strategic Vision
Unlike many startups focused solely on growth, Button Finance has maintained profitability and positive cash flow for several months. This solid financial footing allows the company to expand confidently while preserving equity for its shareholders.
Looking ahead, Button Finance plans to introduce new products and broaden distribution channels in the second half of 2025 to meet increasing market demand.
