Canada's first tactical AI runtime deploys on Eurocom Raptor X18 for sovereign defence missions
CastleGuard AI on EUROCOM Raptor X18 gives Canadian defense a portable, sovereign, off-grid capability. Bilingual models and day-one apps speed briefings, reports, and intel.

EUROCOM Raptor X18 + CastleGuard AI: Field-Ready AI for Canada's Defense Operations
Nextria has introduced CastleGuard AI, a tactical AI runtime system built for Canadian defense operations. It runs as sovereign software on a high-performance EUROCOM Raptor X18, giving teams a hardened, portable AI capability for onshore, offshore, and fully off-grid missions.
Why this matters for Operations
- Deployable anywhere: works at the edge, in secured facilities, or air-gapped.
- Faster time-to-utility: prebuilt apps ship ready for use on day one.
- Sovereign by design: Canadian-built stack with a bilingual model trained on Government of Canada SOPs and terminology.
- Flexible architecture: mesh design adapts to varied infrastructure without rework.
Sovereign AI that fits your environment
CastleGuard AI centers on tactical deployment: high-efficiency model training, a scalable mesh, and prebuilt apps you can run immediately. It includes the only French-Canadian language model trained on bilingual SOPs and Government of Canada terms and acronyms, improving accuracy for briefings, reports, and task execution.
"Our AI-in-a-box system equips Canadian defense organizations with mission-ready applications, critical intelligence and relevant insights tailored to their unique needs," says Ravi Ramsaran, Chief Product Officer at Nextria. "CastleGuard AI is a truly Canadian invention, designed and developed in Canada, and delivered on a Canadian-built supercomputer with unique IP that bolsters our sovereign AI capabilities."
Hardware built for remote and edge work
Nextria partnered with Ottawa-based Eurocom to embed CastleGuard AI into the Raptor X18. The system is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU inside a rugged aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis-suited to field conditions where reliability and mobility matter.
"We're thrilled to collaborate with Nextria to deliver Canadian AI capabilities wherever they are needed," says Mark Bialic, President of Eurocom. "By embedding CastleGuard AI software in our secure supercomputer, we're enabling decisions at the edge that contribute to the success of Canadian missions."
Day 1 productivity: apps included
- Expert GPT: Applies any language model to extract deep insights from documents and data.
- Translate: Built for Government of Canada usage and French-Canadian context.
- Intelligence: Ingests and correlates structured and unstructured data into one searchable knowledge base.
- Transcription: Converts audio to text in any language, including specialized terms.
Availability and assurance
CastleGuard AI is SLSA-approved and currently deployed in test beds and workstations within Canadian defense and government operations. It is infrastructure-agnostic and portable to secured desktops, classified network clusters, and cloud.
Ops checklist: plan your deployment
- Connectivity posture: Confirm modes for offline, low-bandwidth, and contested networks.
- Accreditation path: Map SLSA alignment to your organization's ATO and supply-chain controls.
- Data boundaries: Define ingest sources, red/black separation, and retention policies.
- Model lifecycle: Set procedures for updates, rollback, and version pinning in air-gapped setups.
- Edge durability: Validate environmental tolerances, storage encryption, and spares provisioning.
- Interoperability: Plan integration with existing SOPs, ticketing, and analytics pipelines.
What this enables for mission owners
- Faster situational understanding by unifying multi-source data into a searchable knowledge base.
- Bilingual accuracy in reports, briefings, and tasking-aligned with Government of Canada terminology.
- Consistent AI workflows that scale from a single workstation to a distributed mesh.
