Clive Dickens Launches Meliora Company: A New AI-Enablement Consultancy and Talent Champion
Clive Dickens, a seasoned executive formerly with Seven West Media, Shazam, and Optus, has launched Meliora Company. This global consultancy focuses on accelerating AI adoption, innovation, and creativity within the telecom, media, and technology sectors.
Meliora Company operates through three distinct pillars:
- Meliora Advisory: A boutique product development and strategic AI advisory service.
- Meliora Ventures: Investing in early-stage, CTO-led technology startups.
- Meliora Creative: An IP fund supporting emerging creative industry talent.
Leading Industry Experts Join Meliora
Meliora has enlisted notable Australian industry figures, including Celia Wallace (co-founder of Today the Brave), former IAB chief Vijay Solanki, Future Media’s Ricky Sutton, and ex-Optus and News Corp executive Brendan Collogan. Teams are established in Sydney (APAC), London (EMEA), and Los Angeles (Americas), reflecting Meliora’s global reach.
Helping Brands Accelerate AI Integration
With over a decade in Australia and leadership roles in digital product development, Dickens aims to help TMT brands transform by integrating AI with a design-first approach. He highlights the fast pace of change since November 2022, when generative AI tools became widely available, creating new opportunities for innovation.
“We’re in a period of technological change not seen since the launch of the iPhone and app stores in 2007,” Dickens explains. “The fusion of human intelligence and artificial intelligence is the core of what drives us.”
Australia’s Growing Generative AI Ecosystem
Meliora Advisory plans to work closely with medium to large companies to develop AI-enabled digital products that enhance customer experience and business outcomes. Meanwhile, Meliora Ventures has already invested in 11 startups, including Sonder, Tribe Holdings, Chronosphere, Edrolo, and GXE.
Dickens notes a shift in investment focus toward the generative AI application layer—the software built on top of large language models (LLMs) that powers tools like ChatGPT and Claude. He compares this to the early days of the internet and mobile apps, emphasizing the urgent need for businesses to adopt AI-driven solutions.
“Hundreds of generative AI applications launch every month globally,” he says. “Australia is home to some exceptional products, and we’re keen to back talented CTO founders in this space.”
Championing Creative Talent in the Age of AI
The third pillar, Meliora Creative, supports creative professionals whose skills AI cannot replicate. Dickens stresses the importance of investing in human creativity—whether it’s writing emotionally resonant songs, enduring literature, or compelling scripts.
“AI will reduce traditional roles, but there’s a unique space where human creativity remains irreplaceable,” he says. “We want to support that intersection of art, science, and technology.”
