County Pilots AI Software to Streamline Building and Property Information
The county is testing SwiftGov, AI software that integrates with GIS to streamline building data access. It saves costs and speeds up parcel research for staff and residents.

County Tests AI Software to Improve Building Department Efficiency
The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has begun testing new software aimed at enhancing building and property information management. The software, called SwiftGov, integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the County’s Geographic Information System (GIS) to support staff and residents in researching county parcels more efficiently.
Sabrina Dugan from Swiftbuild.ai demonstrated SwiftGov’s capabilities, highlighting how it consolidates diverse data such as zoning and land use, land development regulations, future land use plans, FEMA flood elevations, maximum building heights, and even local chicken regulations. The system also links to resources like Municode for quick access to specific codes and ordinances.
Cost Savings and Practical Use
Commissioner Brian Hawkins noted that the investment in SwiftGov is expected to be offset by eliminating multiple software licenses, resulting in annual savings estimated between $40,000 and $50,000. Omar DePablo, Director of Development Services, clarified that the AI platform’s role is to speed up information retrieval rather than make decisions. This approach ensures the software serves as a tool for assembling existing county data—known as “Narrow AI”—without exposing private information or risking data leaks beyond county systems.
What This Means for Real Estate and Construction Professionals
- Faster access to comprehensive parcel data streamlines project planning and due diligence.
- Integration with zoning and regulatory information reduces the time spent cross-referencing multiple sources.
- Improved data accuracy supports compliance with local building codes and land use regulations.
The system will soon be available for testing by County staff and Commissioners, marking a step toward more efficient property research and permitting processes.
