AI Agents Can Now Book Travel in Real Time

Custom Travel Solutions launched RouteStack.ai, an infrastructure platform that lets AI agents access live hotel inventory and complete bookings without handing users off to a separate website. The system connects large language model agents directly to pricing and availability data, then generates pre-populated checkout links to finish transactions within the conversation.

Until now, AI travel assistants could suggest destinations and inspire trips but couldn't check real availability or process payments. Users had to leave the AI chat, navigate to a booking site, and search again. RouteStack.ai removes that friction.

How It Works

The platform runs on Model Context Protocol servers designed for AI environments. These servers query inventory databases and return structured results that fit naturally into conversational workflows.

When a user selects a hotel and dates in an AI chat, RouteStack.ai generates a deep link with property details, travel dates, and pricing already filled in. The user clicks through to a checkout page - no manual re-entry required.

Hotels are live now. Flights, car rentals, vacation rentals, and activities launch in April. The roadmap includes cruises, rail, and transfers.

A New Distribution Channel

RouteStack.ai creates a booking channel that sits alongside traditional websites and mobile apps. Hotels and travel brands can reach customers through AI platforms the same way they reach them through Google or Booking.com.

Mike Putman, CEO of Custom Travel Solutions, said: "This isn't about building another chatbot. We've built the commerce layer AI agents were missing. The APIs, the deep links, the checkout infrastructure - those pieces already existed inside our broader ecosystem. We've now assembled them specifically for AI."

The company is positioning RouteStack.ai as a developer platform. It offers API access, sandbox environments, and documentation for teams building AI-driven travel applications.

What This Means for Hospitality

For hospitality professionals, this represents a shift in how bookings flow through the industry. AI will function as a distribution partner, not just a marketing tool.

Properties that integrate with RouteStack.ai can appear in AI agent recommendations and handle transactions without additional work from the customer. Professionals managing inventory, pricing, and channel strategy should understand how this layer operates and where it fits in their distribution mix.
