David's Bridal Reshapes C-Suite Around AI and Technology Strategy
David's Bridal named a chief technology officer and a chief global transformation officer this week, signaling a shift toward technology-first operations under CEO Kelly Cook. The bridal retailer also announced the retirement of its chief operating officer and launched a search for a new chief financial officer.
Scott Saeger takes the CTO role with a mandate to scale the company's AI initiatives and complete a migration to Shopify. Heather Braddock becomes chief global transformation and operations officer, overseeing store operations, supply chain, customer service and joint ventures.
Bob Walker, the current COO, will transition to executive adviser starting April 1. Rob Cooper, who served as CFO for 20 years, is leaving the company.
The "Aisle to Algorithm" Strategy
Cook, who became CEO roughly a year ago, framed these moves as part of the company's effort to become a technology-first retailer. "One year ago, we set out to prove that a heritage brand could be the most innovative tech company in the industry," Cook said. "We have fundamentally moved from a legacy retailer to a high-velocity media, content, entertainment, and technology engine."
The company calls this transformation "Aisle to Algorithm." It includes a store-of-the-future concept launched last May that features Shopify integration, personal styling services, and luxury trunk shows. In September, David's Bridal released Pearl Planner, an AI tool that helps couples manage wedding planning tasks.

Expanding Beyond Core Retail
David's Bridal is also building a broader ecosystem. Earlier this year, it launched "David's Style Squad," which lets influencers, customers and store employees create shoppable content across digital platforms. Last week, the company unveiled a wholesale division to supply boutiques and other retailers with its luxury bridal gowns.
The C-suite changes reflect how established retailers are reorganizing to compete on technology. For executives managing similar transformations, understanding the structural and strategic shifts required is critical.
