AI for Film, Done Right: A New Executive Course for European Creatives

Sponsored by The National Film School of Denmark - 26 November 2025

The National Film School of Denmark is launching a nine-month executive module for European film and TV professionals who want to work smarter with AI-without losing creative intent. Built with FilmForward (NL) and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), the programme blends on-site intensives with remote work and mentorship.

It's called "Mastering AI for European Film Professionals", and it focuses on one goal: better films, smarter decisions, stronger leadership in an AI-enabled industry.

Why this matters now

Many European institutions still treat AI as a fad or a threat. That mindset stalls progress. Sten Saluveer, head of studies and programme director, puts it plainly: the gap isn't money or regulation-it's leadership. This course tackles that gap head-on so decision-makers can act on AI now, not later.

The US is moving fast, with massive investment and bold experimentation. Europe can move with the same clarity-if leaders develop a clear, practical approach to AI across development, production, distribution, and audience work.

Who this is for

Validated European audiovisual professionals with 5+ years of experience. Producers, directors, writers, DOPs, distributors, exhibitors, financiers, executives, heads of department, technology and VFX leads, policymakers, and educators.

24 places. Application deadline: 18 February 2026.

What you'll leave with

Strategic leadership sits at the core. This isn't about "prompt tricks." It's for funders, commissioning editors, creative producers, executives, and managers who need to evaluate tools, build AI-aware workflows, and make informed creative, commercial, and ethical calls.

  • Assess any new AI tool or workflow and judge its creative, commercial, and ethical impact.
  • Implement profession-specific workflows for development, production, and distribution.
  • Work with legal, copyright, and IP constraints-without stalling innovation.
  • Build AI-enabled business models and lead organisational change with confidence.

The modules

  • AI Foundations & Change Management
  • Advanced Power Prompting & Creative Applications: Short Film Production
  • Ethics and Legal Perspectives
  • Business Applications and Development for Ethical AI in Europe
  • Sustainability, Sales and Marketing & Final Presentations

Alongside tool fluency, you'll develop a stronger network across disciplines and borders. Expect real use cases, short-form production to test learning, and structured feedback from tutors and peers.

How the programme runs

Nine months. Concentrated on-site modules balanced with flexible online sessions, assignments, and mentorship. The format respects busy schedules while pushing participants to apply learning to live projects and company strategy.

Leadership that creates better films

"Creatives must use the technology-and now is the time to do it," says Saluveer. The aim isn't to make "AI content." It's to help skilled leaders and filmmakers make better films with AI as a smart, compliant, and creative part of the process.
