EHA and Arab Hospitals Federation map joint action on AI, cybersecurity, and sustainable care

The Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and the Arab Hospitals Federation (AHF) held high-level talks to align efforts on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, human capital development, and sustainable healthcare management. EHA Chairperson Ahmed El-Sobky met AHF President Fadi Allam and a senior delegation to define practical areas of cooperation that move regional systems forward.

El-Sobky said the partnership reflects a renewed push for Arab collaboration to raise care quality. He commended the federation's ongoing work in quality improvement, patient safety, and capacity building across the region.

A unified regional framework to assess healthcare facility performance is under discussion, with Sharm El-Sheikh positioned as the base. The hub is intended to support Arab-African integration and structured knowledge exchange.

Both sides also reviewed plans for a Regional Center of Excellence focused on quality, patient safety, digital transformation, leadership, and innovation. The center would streamline training, implementation support, and shared standards.

El-Sobky highlighted Egypt's institutional capacity and the Authority's recent recognition in quality, governance, sustainability, and medical tourism. He noted the partnership can accelerate proven practices across neighboring health systems.

Allam praised the rollout of Egypt's Universal Health Insurance System, calling it a regional model for reform and innovation. He expressed interest in joint research programs and wider knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Healthcare Authority, including Hany Rashid, Amir El-Talawany, Magdy Bakr, Ahmed Hammad, Reham El-Shenawy, and Shady Farhat.

What this means for healthcare leaders

  • Comparable benchmarks: A regional performance framework would allow apples-to-apples comparisons on quality, patient safety, digital maturity, and sustainability indicators.
  • Centralized capability building: A Center of Excellence can standardize training, help spread proven workflows, and support leadership development across systems.
  • Clear priority tracks: AI for clinical and operational use, cybersecurity hardening, workforce upskilling, and greener operations will headline collaboration.
  • Data-informed scaling: Recognition of Egypt's progress signals a path to replicate results in similar contexts through structured pilots and shared playbooks.

How providers can prepare now

  • Map current projects to the four focus areas: AI, cybersecurity, human capital, and sustainability. Identify gaps and quick wins.
  • Nominate a liaison team for regional benchmarking and knowledge exchange. Define data stewards and governance upfront.
  • Audit data readiness for performance assessment: data quality, access, interoperability, and reporting cadence.
  • Prioritize AI safety and security: model governance, validation protocols, and incident response aligned with clinical risk.
  • Plan workforce development: clinical informatics training, cybersecurity drills, and change management for digital initiatives.
