Firebird Launches Venture Platform, Brings OpenAI Tools to 50,000 Armenian Students

Firebird, an AI infrastructure company operating one of Europe's largest GPU clusters, has launched Firebird Labs, a venture platform that will fund and incubate startups in robotics, physical AI, aerospace and life sciences. The company is also partnering with Armenia's Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and ChatGPT maker OpenAI to provide AI tools to 50,000 students, teachers and researchers across the country.

Universities, researchers and entrepreneurs will gain access to ChatGPT Edu and Codex, along with technical support and infrastructure. The program aims to accelerate AI adoption in Armenia's academic and research communities.

What Firebird Labs Will Do

Firebird Labs begins operations in the third quarter of 2026. The platform will invest in and co-develop up to five technical ventures annually, moving beyond traditional accelerator models toward long-term company creation.

Selected founders and research teams receive access to OpenAI technologies, mentorship, research partnerships and dedicated GPU infrastructure. Firebird expects to scale compute resources to 1,000 dedicated GPUs for program participants by 2027.

Infrastructure and Investment

Firebird operates one of Europe's largest GPU clusters and plans significant expansion in Armenia. The company previously announced a Phase 2 expansion targeting $4 billion in investment and 50,000 GPUs by the end of 2026.

OpenAI is supporting the initiative through technology access, API credits and team support. Firebird provides compute infrastructure and operational resources.

Why Armenia

Armenia has a high concentration of engineering talent in the region, supported by government investment in technology infrastructure. The country joins a growing group of nations integrating OpenAI's education-focused offerings into higher education and research.

Jayna Devani, international education lead at OpenAI, said the collaboration connects Armenia's talent base with frontier tools and practical support for students and researchers. "Intelligence is becoming a national utility and education has an important role to play in making sure people have both access to the tools and the skills to use them well," Devani said.

For Educators

Teachers and researchers in Armenia now have access to AI for Education tools designed for classroom and research use. The initiative provides both the technology and infrastructure needed to integrate AI into educational settings at scale.
