Freeda raises €3.4M to speed up construction plan reviews with AI and field expertise
Paris-based constructiontech startup Freeda has secured €3.4 million in funding led by Frst, with participation from Brick & Mortar Ventures. The company has also been selected for Station F's Future 40, a nod to its traction and potential.
Freeda's goal is simple: deliver projects on schedule and without surprises. Plans should read like the building already exists, and precision should be standard practice.
The pre-construction bottleneck Freeda is attacking
Before a shovel hits the ground, plan issues slow everything down. Inconsistencies, code gaps, and brand-standard misses account for roughly 70% of pre-start delays.
Each month of delay costs project owners on average more than €100,000, often more for owner-operators. Teams still spend 100+ hours per project on manual checks-yet critical issues slip through, causing redesigns, change orders, and budget creep.
What Freeda does differently
Freeda combines AI with field expertise to turn plan verification into a clear, repeatable process. Instead of weeks, checks are completed in hours or days.
By pairing AI with architects, engineers, accessibility specialists, and fire-safety experts, the platform flags plan errors within 48 hours-versus the 100+ hours typical of manual reviews. The result: fewer delays, tighter cost control, and more time for teams to focus on design instead of repetitive checks.
Why plans are so hard to get right
"Architectural plans aren't just voluminous-their complexity is on another level. Each sheet is a layered document mixing graphic formats, successive versions, and nearly identical symbols where a single line changes everything. OCR isn't enough: geometry, topology, units-two centimeters of discrepancy can fail an inspection. This very complexity represents a massive opportunity, and our expertise lies in transforming it into clear, automatable verification processes," said Mariano Rodriguez, CSO and co-founder.
Scale and expansion
Freeda reports more than 10 clients and 10,000 plans verified in 2025. The target is 1 million plans analyzed by 2026 across Europe, the UK, the US, and the Middle East.
The fresh capital will help Freeda grow its team and further industrialize plan reviews. As it expands internationally, the platform will adapt checks to local standards and practices with support from on-the-ground experts.
What this means for owners, GCs, and architects
- Pull revenue forward: Fewer pre-construction delays means faster starts and fewer surprise costs.
- Cut rework: Early detection of code and spec issues reduces change orders and redesign cycles.
- Free up senior talent: Move repetitive verification off expert plates so they can focus on design decisions.
- Improve handoffs: Clear, structured issue lists make it easier to align architects, engineers, and contractors.
How to pilot an AI-backed plan review
- Select a representative live project with a clear schedule risk and known code or brand constraints.
- Define acceptance criteria: turnaround time, issue detection rate, and impact on design iterations.
- Run the AI + expert review in parallel with your current process for one cycle to compare results.
- Standardize what works: convert wins into checklists, templates, and contract language.
The bottom line
Pre-construction delays are expensive and preventable. A faster, expert-backed verification layer can turn plan reviews from a drag on schedules into a reliable, repeatable step that protects budgets and margins.
