Supply Chain AI Software Spending to Hit $53 Billion by 2030, Gartner Forecasts
Spending on supply chain management software with AI agent capabilities will grow more than 25-fold over the next four years, climbing from less than $2 billion in 2025 to $53 billion by 2030, according to Gartner research released in April 2026.
The forecast reflects a shift in how enterprises approach supply chain operations. Simple AI agents that execute discrete tasks are already helping organizations automate routine workflows, freeing staff for more complex work. Over the next 12 to 18 months, supply chain leaders will begin clustering these agents to handle multi-step processes, with or without human oversight.
AI Assistants Become Table Stakes
AI assistant features are now a mandatory requirement in supply chain software selection, Gartner found. AI agents have moved from nice-to-have to common requirement.
Vendors that successfully deploy advanced AI agents will gain competitive advantage in the second half of the forecast period. Software providers are already investing heavily in agent capabilities to differentiate themselves in an increasingly crowded market.
By 2030, 60% of enterprises using supply chain software will have adopted agentic AI features, up from 5% in 2025. The gap between what vendors offer and what enterprises actually deploy will widen, however, as organizations struggle with data management, workforce readiness, and operational changes.
Implementation Requires More Than Software
Supply chain leaders must address multiple layers beyond technology to successfully deploy AI agents at scale. Data management, operations management, workforce AI-readiness, and network connectivity all need to evolve alongside software adoption.
During early deployments, organizations should determine appropriate levels of human oversight for supply chain decisions. The technology will advance faster than the supporting infrastructure, creating a lag between availability and effective use.
Strategic partnerships with AI-enabled supply chain platform providers are essential for managing multiple vendors and orchestrating agents across systems. Change management investments in adjacent operational areas will determine whether deployments succeed or stall.
Gartner will discuss agentic AI workflows at its Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo events in Orlando (May 4-6) and Barcelona (May 18-20).
