Global Data Center Facility Summit 2025: Advancing Intelligent Computing

On May 13, 2025, the Global Data Center Facility Summit took place in Dubai, gathering over 500 industry leaders, technical experts, and partners from the intelligent computing sector. The event focused on exploring new growth opportunities and development strategies for data centers in the era of artificial intelligence. A highlight of the summit was the introduction of Huawei’s AI Data Center (AI DC) solution, aimed at accelerating the industry’s move into intelligent computing.

The Golden Era of Computing Infrastructure

Charles Yang, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of Global Marketing, Sales and Services at Huawei Digital Power, opened the summit by stating that AI models are now benefiting a wide range of industries, signaling a golden era for computing infrastructure. He projected that by 2028, global AI data center capacity would exceed 100 GW, creating a market exceeding US$600 billion solely in energy infrastructure.

Yang identified three main challenges for AI data center development:

  • Ensuring high reliability
  • Faster rollout of facilities
  • Meeting increasing energy demands

Key Development Trends for AI Data Centers

Huawei outlined three important trends shaping the future of AI data centers:

  • Architectural innovation for improved reliability: Employing isolated power supply systems enhances overall system stability.
  • Modular and prefabricated architectures for faster deployment: Huawei’s Outdoor PowerPOD uses a fully decoupled design, enabling one power system per container and significantly reducing time to market.
  • Energy efficiency through green power and optimization: Integration of direct green power supply, campus photovoltaic (PV) systems, and AI-driven optimization improves data center energy use.

Building a Foundation for Intelligent Computing

Bob He, Vice President of Huawei Digital Power, expanded on the challenges faced by intelligent computing centers, such as rapid delivery, elastic deployment, and minimizing total cost of ownership (TCO). To address these, Huawei introduced the RASTM principles for AI data center construction:

  • Reliable: Full lifecycle reliability ensured through product design, architecture, intelligent management, and professional services. Huawei’s SmartLi battery system incorporates multiple safety layers and an isolated architecture to reduce service disruptions.
  • Agile: Flexibility is key. The Outdoor PowerPOD’s decoupled architecture supports on-demand deployments and phased capacity expansion, enabling agile responses to shifting AI service needs.
  • Sustainable: Prioritizing power supply efficiency by focusing on parallel system optimization and implementing Huawei’s S-ECO mode, which enhances overall energy efficiency up to 99.1%.

Huawei combines reliable products, comprehensive lifecycle services, and expert consulting to collaborate with partners in delivering AI data center solutions. These solutions emphasize fast delivery, consistent reliability, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability for intelligent computing centers.

Collaborative Efforts to Enhance Data Center Safety

During the summit, Huawei joined forces with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), supported by Alibaba Cloud, China Mobile Group Design Institute, China Telecom, and China Unicom, to release a White Paper on the Safety of Lithium-ion Battery Applications in Data Centers. This document outlines seven critical areas to improve battery safety, aiming to support the development of high-reliability, high-quality data center infrastructure.

Looking Ahead

Huawei Digital Power is committed to advancing technology and providing innovative products and solutions that support the high-quality growth of the data center industry. Their efforts focus on establishing a solid foundation for intelligent computing environments that meet the demands of the digital era.
