Google AI Mode Adds Agentic Booking and Expands to 180+ Countries
Google has enhanced its AI Mode by introducing agentic booking capabilities and personalization features, while also broadening access to more than 180 countries in English. These updates aim to shift user interactions from simple answers to completing tasks directly within Google’s ecosystem.
Agentic Booking: Booking Made Easier
Starting in the U.S., Google AI Ultra subscribers can now request restaurant reservations through AI Mode. The system processes detailed requests, checks real-time availability across multiple reservation platforms, and then directs users to the booking page to finalize the reservation. This feature brings more discovery and conversion activities inside Google’s own surfaces.
Plans are underway to extend agentic bookings to local service appointments and event tickets soon. Partner platforms involved include OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Booksy.
New Planning Features for Collaboration and Personalization
- Shareable AI Responses: In the U.S., users can share AI Mode responses with others, allowing recipients to ask follow-up questions and continue research independently. These shared links can be revoked at any time.
- Personalized Suggestions: U.S. users opting into the Labs experiment gain access to personalized dining recommendations based on previous interactions in Search and Maps. Users maintain control over this personalization through their Google Account settings.
How Google AI Mode Works
The AI Mode leverages live web browsing via Project Mariner, integrations with reservation and ticketing partners, and data from the Knowledge Graph and Maps. This combination allows it to provide accurate, up-to-date booking information and tailored recommendations.
Availability and Access
- Agentic Booking: Limited to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S., accessible through the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” Labs experiment.
- Personalization: Available in the U.S. on an opt-in basis with dining as the first focus area.
- Global AI Mode Access: Expanded to 180+ countries and territories in English, with plans to add more languages.
What This Means for Businesses
Businesses involved in reservations and ticketing should verify their inventory accuracy, business hours, and policies to ensure a smooth user experience. Maintaining clean structured data and up-to-date Business Profile attributes will improve visibility and booking accuracy.
As Google continues to add more task-based features and widen its coverage, monitoring how bookings and referrals appear in analytics will be essential for measuring impact and optimizing presence.
