Google Supports 15 AI-Driven African Startups in Latest Accelerator Cohort

Google has selected 15 startups from Africa for its Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa Class 9. These companies were chosen from nearly 1,500 applicants across Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa. They focus on solving pressing issues through AI in sectors like fintech, agritech, healthtech, and professional services.

Since its launch in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa program has supported 153 startups from 17 countries. Collectively, these startups have raised over $300 million and created more than 3,500 jobs, contributing significantly to economic growth and innovation on the continent.

What the Accelerator Offers

  • Mentorship from Google experts and industry leaders.
  • Training in AI and machine learning development, product strategy, business growth, and leadership.
  • Technical support, including access to Google engineers and up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits.
  • Networking opportunities to engage with investors, partners, and customers.

The program runs as a hybrid format from June 23 to August 22, 2025. Over these three months, startups will refine their products, improve business strategies, and prepare to attract further investment. Google also commits to supporting these startups beyond the accelerator period.
