Gradient AI Launches Workers' Comp Triage Tool to Flag Expensive Claims at First Notice
Gradient AI introduced ClaimVoyant, a tool that identifies potentially expensive or complex workers' compensation claims when they're first reported. The software flags cases likely to involve delayed recovery or significant costs, allowing insurers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers to assign appropriate staff and plan care interventions early.
Claims involving workers with pre-existing physical or psychological conditions cost three to four times more than those without such conditions. Early identification creates a window for proactive treatment that can improve recovery outcomes.
How it works
ClaimVoyant analyzes data submitted at First Notice of Loss (FNOL) and produces actionable recommendations. The tool matches claimants at a rate exceeding 90%, according to the company.
The system integrates into existing claims workflows through multiple delivery methods: portal access, API integration, CSV uploads, or direct core system connection. Brook Rosenbaum, general manager of property and casualty for Gradient AI, said the tool's flexibility allows it to work in "virtually any claims handling workflow."
Detailed reports are available with medical authorization. The company priced the solution to be accessible to carriers of different sizes.
Data foundation
Gradient AI built ClaimVoyant on its SaaS platform, which processes data from tens of millions of policies and claims. The platform incorporates economic, health, geographic, and demographic information alongside claims and underwriting data.
The company serves insurance carriers, managing general agents, TPAs, risk pools, professional employer organizations, and large self-insured employers across multiple insurance lines.
Future expansion
ClaimVoyant is currently available for workers' compensation. Gradient AI plans to expand the tool to other lines of business.
For professionals working in AI for Insurance or claims management, understanding how AI data analysis identifies high-risk claims early can inform strategy around claim triage and resource allocation.
