Grammarly and Latimer AI Team Up to Bring Inclusive Writing Support to Students
Grammarly partners with Latimer AI to provide inclusive, bias-free writing tools for over 3,000 institutions. This collaboration supports fairness and cultural awareness in education.

Grammarly and Latimer AI Team Up to Support Inclusive AI Writing Assistance
Grammarly has partnered with Latimer AI, the first inclusive Large Language Model (LLM), to offer students a more equitable way to improve their writing and cultural understanding. This collaboration integrates both platforms for Grammarly for Education customers, giving over 3,000 institutions access to tools that boost academic success and promote inclusive learning.
Jenny Maxwell, Head of Education at Grammarly, explains that this partnership supports equity in higher education by providing an inclusive LLM to their educational network.
Enhancing Students’ Cultural Awareness
Latimer AI stands out by offering AI-powered writing assistance grounded in accurate historical data and free from bias. Unlike other models, it draws on licensed, exclusive sources such as the New York Amsterdam News, one of the oldest Black newspapers in the US, to inform its training. It also uses Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to deliver precise and contextually relevant information.
Encouraging Ethical and Effective AI Use
Dr. Robert MacAuslan, VP of AI at Southern New Hampshire University, highlights two key points: AI literacy is crucial for student success, and AI tools reflect the biases of their creators. This means educators have a responsibility to offer technologies that minimize bias and teach ethical AI use.
John Pasmore, CEO of Latimer, emphasizes that Grammarly’s writing support complements Latimer’s mission. He notes that AI should be viewed as a helpful tool that enhances human work, not as a replacement for genuine writing skills.
For writers, this partnership means access to AI tools that not only improve writing quality but also promote fairness and cultural sensitivity. It’s a practical step toward more responsible AI integration in education.
