Gurugram University hosts global summit on AI and law
Gurugram University concluded a two-day international conference on artificial intelligence and law on Saturday, drawing scholars, researchers, and students from India and abroad. The event brought together 192 presenters who shared research papers on how AI affects the legal system.
Speakers at the conference emphasized that courts and legal institutions must maintain transparency and accountability as AI becomes more embedded in justice systems. The discussions reflected a broader challenge: how to integrate AI tools into law without losing oversight of their decisions.
Raj Nehru, officer on special duty to Haryana's chief minister, said India's young researchers can position the country as a global leader in AI and law. Sanjay Kaushik, the university's vice-chancellor, noted that AI now influences every sector, including courts and legal practice.
Legal professionals working in research, compliance, or document review should understand these emerging issues. AI for Legal professionals covers practical applications like contract analysis and legal research automation. Those in paralegal roles can explore AI Learning Path for Paralegals, which addresses document review and compliance tools now entering law firms.
Vageshwari Deswal from Delhi University's Faculty of Law attended as a special guest. The conference awarded certificates to all presenters and recognized the best research paper.
