Indonesia Sets Up National Cyber and AI Task Force

Jakarta – The Coordinating Ministry for Legal, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correction has announced support for the establishment of the National Cyber and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force. This initiative aims to strengthen Indonesia's digital resilience while safeguarding human rights.

During a coordination meeting on June 30, Andika Dwi Prasetya, the ministry's secretary, emphasized readiness to assist in forming the task force. The focus will be on developing fair and just regulations and governance frameworks for AI and cybersecurity.

“Cross-sector synergy is the key,” Andika stated. “The ministry is prepared to support both policy formulation and technical implementation concerning legal, human rights, immigration, and correctional matters.”

The ministry believes that the task force will help ensure that Indonesia's progress in AI and information technology respects justice, security, and human rights principles.

Focus on Digital Transformation and Collaboration

Deputy Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, highlighted the urgency of a comprehensive digital transformation during the meeting. He pointed to technologies like data analytics, cloud computing, AI, and the Internet of Things (IoT) as essential tools to drive innovation and resilience.

“Digital transformation is an urgent necessity requiring cross-sector collaboration,” he said, underlining the strategic importance of the task force in addressing challenges and opportunities within digital technology.

Senior officials from various ministries and agencies, including Lieutenant General Mochamad Hasan, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security, attended the meeting.
