Indonesia Invites Public Input on AI Roadmap and Ethics Guidelines

Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has opened public consultations to refine two key documents: the Draft White Paper on the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap and the Draft Concept of AI Ethics Guidelines. This move seeks to involve diverse stakeholders in shaping the future of AI governance and deployment in the country.

The white paper is part of Indonesia's effort to accelerate AI adoption responsibly, ensuring inclusivity and sustainability. It serves as a strategic foundation for upcoming policies on AI use and management.

Wide Participation in AI Roadmap Development

So far, 443 representatives from government agencies, academia, industry players, civil society organizations, and media have contributed to the AI roadmap task force. Their collaboration helped draft a comprehensive document that balances innovation with governance considerations.

Complementing Ethics Frameworks

Alongside the roadmap, Indonesia has drafted AI Ethics Guidelines to expand on existing frameworks, particularly building on Ministerial Circular No. 9 of 2023 on Artificial Intelligence Ethics. The public consultation aims to gather feedback that will help produce a unified framework guiding AI development responsibly.
