INSTANDA MAX Enables Real-Time Underwriting for Tens of Thousands of Assets

INSTANDA, a provider of AI-enabled policy administration software, launched INSTANDA MAX on March 31, 2026. The platform allows commercial and non-admitted insurers to underwrite tens of thousands of complex assets within a single policy in real time.

Commercial underwriters have traditionally faced a choice between speed and accuracy. When analyzing large portfolios, they relied on aggregated data and broad assumptions because examining individual assets was too operationally expensive. INSTANDA MAX removes that constraint by processing bulk policies with thousands of items while applying granular analysis to each one.

How the Platform Works

The system uses insurance-grade categorization at the item level, paired with AI-assisted analysis. This allows underwriters to make more consistent, data-driven decisions on pricing and risk assessment.

Real-time updates are a core feature. Insurers can add, remove, or modify assets without waiting until renewal. Pricing and risk evaluation stay aligned with the actual portfolio as changes occur, addressing a longstanding problem in commercial lines where aggregate-level underwriting led to pricing gaps that persisted for months.

The platform includes a quote and policy query assistant and a wording assistant for clauses and endorsements. INSTANDA plans to release additional features later in 2026.

Impact on Underwriting Operations

Tim Hardcastle, CEO and co-founder of INSTANDA, said the platform allows insurers to operate at commercial scale within a single policy. It delivers what he described as "speed, precision, and control that were not previously achievable."

Underwriters can write higher-volume, higher-quality risks without proportional increases in operating costs. The design prioritizes human decision-making, with AI providing support rather than replacement. This allows underwriters to focus on growth and productivity rather than manual data processing.

INSTANDA built MAX on its existing no-code policy administration platform. The company holds a patent-pending status for the approach.
