IPPTAR Drives Media Professionalism with AI Training in Sabah

The Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) is actively working to boost the skills and professionalism of media practitioners, especially journalists, by offering courses that focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation.

Roslan Ariffin, the director of IPPTAR, emphasized that understanding and using AI tools is essential for media professionals to stay competitive and relevant. AI now plays a practical role in speeding up journalistic tasks such as idea generation, draft writing, audio transcription, and data analysis.

Enhancing Journalistic Skills Through AI

During the recent 'SMART Journalism Course: AI Tools for Faster, Smarter Reporting' held in Kota Kinabalu, 25 media practitioners from various Sabah news agencies completed a three-day training session. Roslan highlighted that the knowledge gained from this course should improve the quality and reach of news delivered to the public.

He urged journalists to keep exploring and adapting to new technologies, as the media environment will continue to change. This approach ensures that reporters can work more efficiently and produce more impactful content.

Plans for Ongoing Training and Skill Development

Looking ahead, IPPTAR intends to organize more frequent courses for media professionals in Sabah. These will cover not only AI technologies but also other relevant skills such as photography, graphic design, and drone operation.

These training sessions will be held either locally in Kota Kinabalu or by inviting Sabah-based media personnel to Kuala Lumpur for focused workshops. This continued education aims to strengthen the overall capabilities of media workers in the region.

  • AI tools can accelerate content creation and data processing in journalism.
  • Regular training helps media professionals stay updated with new technologies.
  • Expanding skills beyond AI, such as in photography and drone usage, supports diverse media needs.

For media and communications professionals interested in enhancing their AI skills, exploring targeted courses can provide practical advantages. Platforms like Complete AI Training offer a range of AI courses tailored to various job functions.
