ISACA Introduces Advanced AI Security Management Certification
ISACA, a leading security professional association with nearly 200,000 accredited members worldwide, has launched the Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) certification. This credential addresses the growing concerns around generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and its security challenges.
A recent ISACA survey found that 61% of security professionals are highly concerned about the misuse of GenAI by threat actors. Key risks include misinformation, privacy breaches, intellectual property theft, social engineering, and potential job displacement. Despite these concerns, many organizations have yet to take sufficient action.
What the AAISM Certification Covers
AAISM is the first certification focused specifically on AI security management. It equips security managers with the skills to oversee AI implementation safely, establish relevant policies, and manage emerging risks effectively. The program covers three core domains:
- AI governance and program management
- Risk management
- Technologies and controls
Goh Ser Yoong, head of compliance at Advance.ai and member of ISACA’s Emerging Trends group, highlights that the AAISM credential confirms security managers’ expertise in adapting to AI’s impact on enterprise security. It complements existing security qualifications, preparing leaders to handle AI-specific challenges confidently.
Who Should Pursue AAISM?
The certification is available to professionals holding ISACA’s Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) credential or the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) accreditation from ISC2. It builds on best practices from both organizations, making it ideal for those with experience in cybersecurity, advisory roles, or AI implementation.
Additional AI Learning Opportunities from ISACA
AAISM joins a suite of AI-focused courses ISACA offers. These include an AI Fundamentals course covering basic AI functionality, applications, risks, and ethics. Other courses provide deeper insights into topics like threat intelligence and ethical AI use.
ISACA also recently launched the Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) credential, targeting audit professionals with certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). In the UK and Ireland, this includes chartered certified accountants registered with ACCA.
ISACA’s Commitment to AI Security Education
ISACA’s CEO, Erik Prusch, emphasizes the organization’s dedication to delivering specialized AI training and certifications for IT audit and security professionals. The goal is to prepare digital trust leaders to manage AI technologies responsibly while advancing their careers.
