Kazakhstan Accelerates Development of Its AI Ecosystem

On July 18, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov led a meeting of the Commission on Digitalization, highlighting the country’s strides in building a national AI infrastructure. Central to these efforts is the introduction of a new Supercomputer, which is expected to significantly speed up AI integration into government operations.

The discussion included updates on modernizing government data centers to support the Supercomputer. Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev provided insights into the ongoing implementation of the 2024–2029 AI Development Concept, a draft law on artificial intelligence, and various training programs such as AI Corporate, TUMO Center, and AI People.

Key AI Solutions and Platforms Presented

Several digital solutions were showcased during the meeting, including:

  • e-agent
  • egov AI
  • AI-therapist
  • Tax helper
  • SDU
  • E-translator

These tools are designed to streamline public services and improve user experience through AI-driven assistance.

QazTech Platform Supports Faster IT Product Development

The meeting also focused on the QazTech platform, which is set to reduce IT product launch times from several years to just six months. This platform enforces uniform standards, integrates cybersecurity protocols, and leverages cloud technologies. Deployment is planned for August, with some government services already running on the platform.

Digital Transformation Maps to Guide AI Integration

All government agencies are preparing Digital Transformation Maps, drawing inspiration from international models such as Singapore’s. These maps emphasize AI adoption, process reengineering, data digitization, and responsiveness to citizen feedback through channels like e-Otinish, hotline 109, and social media.

Prime Minister Bektenov has instructed that these maps be finalized within one month. They will serve as a foundation for further AI integration and encourage innovation in the private sector by leveraging public data.
