Kazakhstan and Türkiye to jointly develop AI infrastructure
Kazakhstan's government is asking Türkiye to partner on building out AI infrastructure across Central Asia. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov made the call at the 14th Kazakh-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission meeting in Astana on April 15.
Bektenov said Kazakhstan has tasked its government with deploying AI across all economic sectors. The country has already launched two of Central Asia's largest supercomputer clusters in Astana and opened the Alem.AI international center.
A Data Center Valley project is underway to attract investors through tax breaks and energy incentives. Bektenov said Kazakhstan wants Türkiye to help develop this infrastructure further.
Cooperation areas beyond infrastructure
The two countries see opportunities across multiple IT sectors. Bektenov listed IT education, fintech, cybersecurity, and electronic services as priority areas for partnership.
Within the Organization of Turkic States framework, both nations are working on establishing a Cybersecurity Council and jointly developing a CubeSat-12U satellite.
The commission also discussed unifying railway transportation tariffs between the countries, a separate but related economic priority.
