KGVB Schools in Prayagraj Boost Girls’ Learning in Computers and AI

The Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in Prayagraj are making significant strides in providing quality education to girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. These residential schools focus on elevating educational standards while introducing essential modern skills.

The state government is actively upgrading facilities and expanding staff strength to support this mission. Currently, there are 20 KGBV schools across the district, with 19 already upgraded and the last one expected to complete its upgrade by December. Each school received an investment of approximately Rs 18.69 lakh for these improvements.

Growing Student Enrollment and Curriculum Expansion

At present, 2,398 girls are enrolled in these schools, pursuing their education across various blocks of the district. Alongside the regular curriculum, the schools have introduced computer education and Artificial Intelligence (AI) training. This initiative aims to equip girls from rural areas with skills relevant to the evolving technology landscape.

Staff Recruitment and Enhanced Learning Opportunities

To support these new programs, recruitment drives resulted in hiring 48 additional teaching and non-teaching staff, bringing the total workforce to 248. Among the new appointments, 31 posts are designated for women teachers. Notably, 10 positions focus on computer education, while 8 cater to subjects like art, craft, home science, and music.
