Kongsberg Digital and PDO Partner on AI-Powered Digital Twin

Kongsberg Digital has formed a strategic partnership with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to implement an enterprise AI-powered digital twin. This collaboration focuses on boosting operational efficiency and safety through close cooperation and industrial intelligence.

PDO selected Kongsberg Digital’s Industrial Work Surface solution, Kognitwin®, to support its goals of safer operations, higher production, and maintaining competitive costs. Integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), Kognitwin® combines operational technology (OT) and enterprise IT data, providing a unified view that spans end-to-end workflows in operation and maintenance.

Deployment and Collaboration

The plan is to start deploying all digital twins within this year. The partnership leverages Kongsberg Digital's experience in scaling industrial software across complex facilities and PDO's deep operational knowledge. Together, they aim to enable smooth information flow and improved decision-making across work processes.

Shane McArdle, CEO of Kongsberg Digital, emphasizes the importance of collaboration: “PDO is advancing the future of work by investing in industrial intelligence that aligns with their operational priorities. We’re excited to partner with a company that shares our vision and pace, aiming to transform how work is done in this industry.”

Strategic Growth in the Middle East

This partnership also reflects Kongsberg Digital's expansion in the Middle East, where it already collaborates with major operators. The company has a solid track record with global energy leaders like Shell and Chevron, positioning it well to meet growing digital transformation needs in the region.

Ahmed Al Abri, AI and Digital Transformation Task Force Lead at PDO, adds, “The need for safer operations, increased production, and cost efficiency is stronger than ever. Our partnership with Kongsberg Digital equips us to face these challenges while adopting new AI-driven workflows.”
