Teachers adopt AI tools to enhance learning

More than 300 educators in the Sta. Rosa and Calamba, Laguna clusters have started using AI in daily instruction as part of a national push to modernize teaching and learning. Training sessions held on Nov. 28 and Dec. 4, 2025 introduced tools that help with lesson planning, assessment, and real-time classroom support.

The goal is simple: reduce admin load so teachers can spend more time mentoring students, while learners progress at a pace that fits their needs.

What's happening

The program equips teachers with AI assistants for planning, quiz generation, feedback, and classroom management. Routine tasks get faster, so instructional time goes to coaching, remediation, and enrichment.

This roll-out is a partnership between CitySavings Bank Cebu and Khan Academy Philippines, providing access to "Khanmigo," an AI-based teaching tool built to support both teachers and students. The collaboration also targets learning gaps in remote communities with free digital resources.

Early signals from classrooms

Mikee Landicho of Camp Vicente Lim Integrated School shared that the new tools help build problem-solving skills. "The interactive practice exercises and instant feedback significantly enhance learning," Landicho said.

Paula Ruelan, head of Reputation and Brand Management at CitySavings, framed the initiative as a push for a future-ready learning environment. "By providing teachers with AI-powered resources... we are not just supporting their current professional development, but actively co-creating a sustainable... environment where both educators and students can thrive," Ruelan stated.

Why it matters for educators

  • Less time on paperwork, more time for teaching and mentorship.
  • Stronger differentiation with instant practice and feedback for varied skill levels.
  • Faster cycle from lesson goals to assessment to review.
  • Support for schools with limited resources through free digital tools.

Quick ways to use AI this term

  • Draft lesson outlines, exit tickets, and rubrics in minutes, then refine with your expertise.
  • Generate multiple question versions to prevent sharing and to support retakes.
  • Create leveled practice sets for remediation and enrichment.
  • Use AI for feedback on short answers, while you focus on higher-order feedback.
  • Build a shared prompt library so your team isn't starting from scratch every time.
  • Set clear guardrails: acceptable use, data privacy, and academic integrity policies.
  • Track outcomes: time saved, student growth, and engagement, then iterate.

What's next

The initiative builds on ongoing support for the Department of Education, including donations of laptops and equipment. Organizers plan to scale the program to more public school divisions, widening access to AI-supported teaching and learning across the country.
