LATAM News AI Media Lab Training Program
Google News has launched the LATAM News AI Media Lab, a focused training program for journalists, editors, and media leaders. The goal is clear: help media professionals integrate AI into their day-to-day work effectively and practically.
Program Structure
The initiative runs in two stages. First, participants join open online group sessions. Then, selected media outlets receive personalized 1:1 counseling to develop AI-powered projects.
Group Sessions
- Ten virtual sessions accessible to media professionals from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
- Sessions cover four key areas: fundamentals, tactics, strategy, and inspiration.
1-on-1 Consultations
- After group sessions, 20 media outlets will be chosen for personalized mentoring.
- Mentors help develop projects that address specific newsroom challenges using AI.
Why You Should Join
- Learn practical ways AI can enhance news coverage and newsroom workflows.
- Gain hands-on experience with AI tools instead of just theoretical knowledge.
- Network with regional peers who are actively innovating in media.
Eligibility Criteria
- News organizations based in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, or Peru.
- For-profit or non-profit entities with at least 12 months of operation.
- Produce original journalistic content.
- Have managerial support to commit to the program.
- Coordinate a team of at least three people to attend group sessions.
Who Should Participate
Each media outlet should be represented by a team of at least three mid- to senior-level managers. Ideally, these team members come from editorial, technology, and sales departments to ensure a well-rounded approach.
