Lattice Acquires Mandala's AI Coaching Technology to Advance Manager Guidance
Lattice, a people management platform, acquired the AI-native coaching technology from Mandala and hired its founder, Tarun Galagali, to develop new capabilities focused on real-time manager guidance. The deal positions Lattice to move beyond reporting what happened to telling managers what to do next.
Mandala's technology combines neuroscience-backed coaching with AI tools delivered through workplace systems like Slack. It has been used at UC Berkeley, Ohio State University, Google, Microsoft, and Pendo. Galagali developed the methodology in collaboration with Dr. Michael Platt of Wharton's Neuroscience Initiative.
Connecting Performance Data to Action
Lattice plans to integrate Mandala's approach into its existing AI Agent product, which already provides coaching and alignment insights in real time. The combined platform aims to deliver on-demand feedback, performance reviews, and behavioral guidance based on company-specific data.
The move reflects broader industry trends. Industry projections suggest that by 2030, half of HR activities could be automated or handled by AI agents. A majority of HR leaders are already implementing generative AI and planning to deploy agentic AI capabilities.
Customers using Lattice report increased efficiency in feedback systems and more meaningful leadership engagement. Organizations want to reduce administrative work while improving the quality of manager-employee interactions.
Scale and Customer Base
Lattice serves nearly 5,000 customers globally with tools for performance management, employee engagement, compensation, and goal tracking. Mandala had trained over 3,000 leaders before the acquisition.
Galagali, a former Google and Verily executive, will lead development of AI-native capabilities at Lattice. Sarah Franklin, Lattice's CEO, said the acquisition represents "the kind of innovative thinking that will drive step-level change not just for Lattice, but for the HR and performance management industry entirely."
For product development professionals, understanding how AI agents are being integrated into enterprise platforms offers insight into how behavioral science and data systems combine to shape product strategy. AI for Product Development covers these approaches in depth, as does AI for Human Resources for those focused on people systems.
