Leidos Teams Up With Trustible to Automate AI Governance for Federal Missions

Leidos and Trustible have launched a joint initiative to speed up artificial intelligence adoption across government while keeping oversight and accountability intact. The collaboration pairs Trustible's automated AI governance platform with Leidos' experience deploying agentic capabilities for national security and government missions.

What Changes for AI Governance

In a proof-of-concept, Leidos used Trustible's platform to shorten the AI intake and approval process - a process that traditionally takes weeks. Accountability and transparency are preserved for civilian, homeland, defense, intelligence and international partners.

"By automating core governance processes, we're able to strengthen safeguards while reducing the barriers that have historically slowed AI adoption in complex, regulated environments," said Geoff Schaefer, vice president of AI strategy and governance at Leidos.

Leidos has also integrated Trustible into its enterprise governance framework as part of a broader push to deliver secure, accountable AI systems at scale. For agencies aligning with established guidance, this approach supports practical implementation alongside frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.

Scaling AI Use Across Federal Environments

The announcement follows Leidos' partnership with OpenAI to deploy agentic and generative AI in federal settings. According to Ted Tanner, chief technology officer at Leidos, the collaboration enables secure deployment of advanced models to improve operational efficiency, accelerate product development and enhance service delivery across defense, national security, health and infrastructure markets.

Why This Matters for Government Teams

The message is simple: automate the manual steps that slow down approvals, keep a clear record for auditors, and scale with controls built in. Here are practical moves agencies can make now:

  • Standardize AI intake with automated checks mapped to agency policy and recognized frameworks.
  • Centralize documentation (use case intent, data sources, risk reviews) in a system of record with audit trails.
  • Route approvals to security, privacy, legal and mission owners with clear SLAs and sign-offs.
  • Start with lower-risk pilots, measure time-to-approval and findings, then expand to higher-impact use cases.
  • Integrate governance workflows with existing ATO processes and your SDLC to avoid duplicate work.

Bottom Line

Leidos and Trustible are showing a path to move faster on AI without losing oversight. Automated governance shortens cycle times, increases transparency and helps agencies deploy AI that stands up to scrutiny.
