Infineon and LMT IoT team up to speed edge AI device development

Infineon Technologies and LMT IoT have announced a partnership to help companies build connected edge AI devices faster. The collaboration integrates Infineon's Deepcraft software-which converts sensor data into efficient AI models for microcontrollers-with LMT IoT's IoT Shortcut platform, which handles cellular connectivity, device onboarding, data transmission and remote management.

The two companies formally introduced the partnership at an event in Vienna on June 4, 2026, attended by representatives from Latvia's Investment and Development Agency and members of the European startup ecosystem.

What the partnership addresses

Product teams face a persistent problem: building the AI model is one thing. Getting that model to work reliably in connected devices deployed in the field is another. This partnership targets that gap by combining edge processing with cellular connectivity in a single integrated approach.

The combination enables devices to process data locally and send only relevant insights to the cloud. This reduces bandwidth demands, improves response times and extends battery life-critical requirements for industrial monitoring, predictive maintenance, agriculture, environmental sensing and smart buildings.

In industrial settings, edge AI can detect anomalies and transmit data only when necessary. Agricultural sensors can filter field data before sending it. Asset tracking in remote locations can operate longer with lower power consumption.

The mentorship program

The companies have launched a joint mentorship initiative supporting teams developing connected products that combine edge AI with low-power cellular connectivity. Participants receive hardware access, engineering support from LMT IoT and structured technical guidance to move from prototype to deployable pilot.

Applications are open until July 31, 2026.

For product development professionals looking to build connected devices, understanding how to integrate edge AI and cellular connectivity is becoming essential. AI for Product Development resources can help teams navigate these technical decisions, while AI Coding Courses provide the implementation skills needed to work with platforms like Deepcraft and IoT Shortcut.
