Madhya Pradesh to Launch AI and FinTech Certificate Courses in 68 Colleges
Madhya Pradesh will introduce an "AI and FinTech with AI" certificate course across 68 government colleges starting in the 2026-27 academic session. The program, developed with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), aims to connect classroom learning with industry needs.
The state government targets training around 2,000 students in the first year, doubling that number in subsequent years.
What Students Will Learn
The certificate course integrates skill-based learning into regular academic programs. Students will gain hands-on experience in AI and financial technology alongside their degree work.
The curriculum is designed to improve job prospects by directly linking education to career opportunities in the digital economy.
Why This Matters for Education Leaders
For educators, this initiative signals a shift toward AI for Education at the institutional level. Colleges will need to prepare faculty, develop curricula, and manage student enrollment in these new programs.
The partnership with IIT Delhi provides a template for how state governments can scale technical education without building institutions from scratch. Other states may follow this model.
Schools implementing similar programs will face practical questions: How do you integrate certificate courses without overwhelming existing faculty? How do you ensure quality when scaling across 68 institutions? What support do colleges need from government to execute this successfully?
The initiative reflects demand for workers with Generative AI and LLM skills. Educational institutions across India are under pressure to produce graduates who can work in these fields.
