Bank of America Deploys AI Tool to Cut Advisor Meeting Time by Four Hours
Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and Bank of America Private Bank launched AI-Powered Meeting Journey on Thursday, a tool designed to reduce the administrative burden on financial advisors during client meetings.
The system integrates with Salesforce CRM to automatically gather client materials before meetings, summarize discussions afterward, and suggest next steps. Advisors save up to four hours per meeting, according to the firms.
How It Works
The tool provides advisors with templates to prepare for client calls. Before a meeting starts, it pulls relevant information from the CRM-including client financials, interests, and interaction history-and generates talking points and potential actions.
After meetings conducted through Zoom, the system automatically summarizes the discussion and saves it to the client record. This eliminates manual data entry that previously fell to advisors.
A conversational assistant within the CRM also answers advisor questions before, during, and after client interactions by accessing information across the system.
The Broader Context
Wealth management firms face an advisor shortage while client expectations climb. Other banks have moved in similar directions: Citigroup deployed AI advisory platforms in August to speed up market research access, and UBS is using AI to redesign office operations.
Shane Waarbroek, senior vice president and wealth advisor at Merrill Lynch, said during a Tuesday briefing that the tools have reduced busywork and let advisors focus on client strategy. Inez Louzonis, managing director at Merrill Lynch, added that the shift benefits clients too, who face volatile markets and complex tax situations.
Paula Hanson, private bank platforms executive at Bank of America Private Bank, described the system as a "flywheel" that saves advisor time while accelerating client touchpoints and relationship growth.
