Michelin Connected Fleet has integrated an AI assistant into its MyConnectedFleet web platform, giving fleet managers instant answers to operational questions through natural language queries. The tool, announced July 15, 2026, converts raw fleet data into actionable reports on fuel efficiency, driver behavior, and vehicle maintenance - cutting hours of manual research from daily workflows.
The assistant is built for managers overseeing bulk haulers, light-duty commercial vehicles, and other fleet types. A manager can ask which drivers are the most fuel-efficient, which trucks need tire maintenance, or what the monthly fuel costs look like - and get a response in seconds rather than spending hours pulling reports manually.
How the AI assistant works
Users access the tool directly through the MyConnectedFleet web portal. They submit questions in plain English and receive text or visual responses that draw on the fleet's own operational data. The system can surface cost trends, safety patterns, and maintenance needs without requiring managers to build queries or navigate dashboards.
"The AI Assistant is the natural evolution of our DNA, which is built around supporting our customers," Sophie Foucque, CEO of Michelin Connected Fleet, Europe, Africa, and Australia, said in a news release. She added that the tool, co-developed with some of Michelin's largest customers, allows "augmented fleet managers" to focus more fully on the performance of their operations.
Data security and platform integration
The assistant operates as a closed system to keep fleet data confidential. Unlike open-ended AI tools that send queries to external servers, this system keeps sensitive operational information inside Michelin's environment.
The tool draws on Michelin's 130 years of mobility expertise and 30 years of data science, according to the company. It can also work alongside other Michelin technologies - intelligent onboard cameras, automatic tire wear inspection, and underinflation alerts - to give managers a wider view of fleet health. The AI assistant is now available to customers in the United States, the U.K., and several other regions.
Why this matters for operations
A recent Michelin survey found that 78% of fleet managers believe AI will reshape the transport sector. The assistant is positioned as a practical entry point into that shift. For operations professionals, the immediate value is time: questions that once required manual data pulls and spreadsheet work now get answered in seconds. That means fewer hours spent on reporting and more time acting on the insights - reallocating trucks, adjusting driver coaching, or scheduling maintenance before breakdowns happen.
