Microsoft and DGA Equip Thai Government Officers with AI Skills for Digital Transformation

Microsoft Thailand and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) have successfully completed the ‘Tech for Gov 2025: NextGen Gov AI Training Program.’ This initiative has boosted AI skills among nearly 2,000 government officers across multiple agencies, promoting innovation and improving public services in Thailand.
The program’s main goal was to improve public service quality and streamline government operations. It provided participants with a comprehensive AI curriculum, from basic concepts to hands-on applications. Trainees developed AI solutions that address real challenges faced by government agencies.
Comprehensive Training and Real-World Application
The training covered AI and machine learning fundamentals, applications in public administration, and responsible AI use. Participants gained practical experience using Microsoft AI tools. The program culminated in a Hackathon where teams presented AI projects aimed at enhancing government efficiency and citizen services.
Several Microsoft partners, including Fusion Solution, LooLoo Technology, Frontis, STelligence, Betimes Solutions, Amity, Bluebik, Digital Dialogue, and Yip-In-Tsoi, provided mentorship and expert advice throughout the program.
Leadership Perspectives
Dhanawat Suthumpun, Managing Director of Microsoft Thailand, highlighted the program’s role in supporting Thailand’s national goal to upskill one million people in AI. He praised the participants’ dedication and the collaborative effort that made the program a success. Microsoft continues to support AI adoption within the Thai government to improve service delivery.
Airada Luangvilai, Senior Executive Vice President and Acting President & CEO of DGA, emphasized the program’s importance in accelerating digital transformation across government agencies. She noted that the successful Hackathon projects demonstrate the potential of government officers to deliver more efficient public services using AI.
Hackathon Winners Driving AI Innovation in Government
- Grand Prize Winner: AI-Din (Department of Lands) – Developed an AI solution that automates complex tasks such as query resolution and document verification. This reduces officials’ workload and speeds up service delivery.
- Efficiency Category Winner: The Reform Coder (Office of the Public Sector Development Commission) – Created the Lert-Na platform, an AI-powered system to streamline screening of efficiency project submissions, ensuring faster and more transparent decisions.
- Experience Category Winner: I Will Use AI Every Day (Thailand Post) – Built the CPTA Digital Post platform, which supports exporters with AI Document Intelligence, user insight analytics, and rapid document verification.
- Empowerment Category Winner: ATB Synergy (National Anti-Corruption Commission, Department of Local Administration, Secretariat of the House of Representatives) – Launched the ‘Tharn Rath’ platform to monitor procurement processes across agencies, providing transparency and reducing local officials’ workload with AI agents.
A representative from the AI-Din team shared that the training inspired them to integrate AI into daily workflows, demonstrating AI’s practical benefits. Using Microsoft Power Platform accelerated their project development, proving that digital transformation requires both technology adoption and a shift in mindset.
