Microsoft and Publicis Groupe Expand Partnership to Build AI-Powered Marketing Platform

Microsoft and Publicis Groupe announced an expansion of their strategic partnership on April 8, 2026, to build a full-stack marketing solution that combines AI agents, legacy system integration, and identity data. The companies will deliver tools that let marketers spend less time on execution and more time on strategy and creative work.

The partnership builds on a decade-long relationship that began with Marcel, an AI platform the companies co-created in 2016. This expansion comes as companies face pressure to connect marketing investments directly to revenue and adapt to shifting customer behavior.

What the Partnership Will Deliver

The solution has three core components:

  • Cloud foundations: Publicis Sapient's Slingshot framework will help organizations migrate legacy systems to Microsoft Azure, creating cloud-native infrastructure for AI adoption.
  • AI agent deployment: Sapient AI solutions will integrate Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Agent 365, and Microsoft IQ. The Bodhi platform will let organizations deploy and scale AI agents across operations, commerce, marketing, and customer engagement.
  • Identity-based data: The solution anchors on Epsilon, Publicis' identity intelligence layer. AI agents built on Microsoft Fabric and powered by Epsilon data can identify high-value customer segments, generate personalized content, deploy campaigns, and optimize spending in real time - all within guardrails set by marketing leaders.

Unlike AI systems built on public data, this approach uses proprietary customer and prospect data to drive measurable outcomes.

Broader Organizational Changes

Publicis is deploying Microsoft 365 Copilot across its 114,000+ employees globally and has selected Azure as its preferred cloud provider. The company will also serve as Microsoft's global media agency of record.

Judson Althoff, CEO of Microsoft's commercial business, said the partnership reflects a belief that "AI must do more to serve humanity by empowering creativity and innovation."
