Microsoft Consolidates Copilot Leadership Under Single Executive
Microsoft reorganized its artificial intelligence leadership structure to unify its Copilot strategy across consumer and enterprise products. CEO Satya Nadella appointed Jacob Andreou as head of Copilot experience, consolidating previously separate teams under one leader responsible for design, product growth, and engineering.
The move addresses a practical problem: customers have complained about inconsistencies between different Copilot implementations across Microsoft's product portfolio.
New Structure Spans Four Connected Areas
The reorganization integrates four pillars: Copilot experience, Copilot platform, Microsoft 365 apps, and AI models. This structure aims to create a unified system that works consistently whether users access it from home or work.
Nadella said the consolidated approach would help customers "spend more time on higher-value work and reduce manual coordination" while providing "people with more agency and empowerment and organizations with the governance and security controls they need."
Leadership Changes
Rajesh Jha, executive vice president of Experiences + Devices, is retiring after 35 years at Microsoft. Ryan Roslansky, Perry Clarke, and Charles Lamanna will lead Microsoft 365 apps and the Copilot platform under the new structure.
Mustafa Suleyman, executive vice president and CEO of Microsoft AI, said the reorganization ensures that "every user - whether at home or at work - will be able to enjoy the full benefit of what we are all building."
Focus on Agentic AI
Microsoft has doubled down on agentic AI capabilities - systems that can autonomously take actions across multiple applications and workflows. The centralized leadership structure is intended to accelerate development of these capabilities across both consumer and enterprise products.
