Mindsmith Raises $4.1M to Scale AI-Native eLearning for the Enterprise

Provo, Utah - November 5, 2025

Mindsmith has raised a $4.1 million seed round to expand its AI-native eLearning platform for corporate training. The round was led by Next Frontier Capital with participation from WndrCo, Grix Venture Capital, and others, including Utah tech veterans Aaron Skonnard (Pluralsight) and Karl Sun (Lucid). Skonnard joins the board; both he and Sun will advise as Mindsmith grows its enterprise footprint.

The platform helps L&D teams build and update training in minutes-turning SOPs, manuals, and slide decks into interactive courses. Early customers report up to 12× faster production compared to traditional authoring tools.

Why product teams should care

  • Shorter cycle times: 12× faster creation means more iteration, frequent refreshes, and tighter feedback loops between product changes and training content.
  • Lower maintenance drag: Dynamic SCORM lets you push updates without re-uploading to the LMS, cutting busywork and version sprawl.
  • Embedded analytics: Measure comprehension and performance to ship content that drives behavior change, not just seat time.
  • Enterprise readiness: SOC 2, real-time collaboration, and an open integration framework fit complex stakeholder and system needs.

From startup experiment to enterprise platform

Founded in August 2022 by Ethan Webb (CTO) and Zachary Allen (CEO), Mindsmith emerged from BYU's Sandbox incubator. Early traction came from simplifying an old standard: SCORM. By wrapping SCORM in a cloud-hosted, dynamic format, teams could update content in real time inside their LMS-no manual uploads.

That early bet worked. Mindsmith reported 7,000 free users in its first year, 20-40% month-over-month revenue growth, and enterprise wins like Tek Experts seeing 12× efficiency gains. If SCORM compatibility matters to your stack, the context lives here: SCORM overview by ADL.

What's shipping today

  • AI-assisted course design that transforms static documents into instructionally sound, interactive modules.
  • Dynamic SCORM output for seamless LMS compatibility and live updates.
  • Built-in multilingual support that adapts to the learner's device language.
  • Real-time collaboration for SMEs, reviewers, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Analytics that surface where learners get stuck, so teams can iterate with intent.
  • Enterprise-grade security with SOC 2 and a cloud-native architecture.

Enterprise momentum

Mindsmith has moved beyond pilots into full deployments with customers including HubSpot, Laing O'Rourke, Gaylor Electric, and multiple Fortune 500 companies. Investors cite strong enterprise demand as companies move away from legacy authoring tools to more flexible, AI-enabled systems.

Industry leaders are getting directly involved. Aaron Skonnard joins the board, and Karl Sun will advise the team as the company scales its platform and partnerships.

Product takeaways you can use now

  • Optimize for outcome quality, not just speed. "Faster" is only useful if knowledge sticks and performance improves.
  • Design for interoperability. Dynamic SCORM and open integrations reduce switching costs and lock-in risk.
  • Make analytics a first-class feature. Treat content like a product: ship, learn from data, iterate.
  • Build collaboration into the workflow. Let SMEs, compliance, and reviewers co-author without bottlenecks.
  • Localize at the system level. Automatic language adaptation removes friction at scale.
  • Thread AI through the entire lifecycle-from content ingestion to QA to updates-so your team keeps momentum.

What's next

The company plans to more than double headcount over the next year while expanding product capabilities and enterprise support. Expect deeper analytics, broader integrations, and more ways to connect training to measurable performance.
