Missouri to Host Public Forum on AI and Data Center Growth
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe will convene state leaders, researchers and industry experts June 18 at Missouri University of Science and Technology to examine how artificial intelligence and large-scale data centers are reshaping the state's economy and infrastructure.
The Governor's Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Data Centers runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Missouri Protoplex on the Missouri S&T campus in Rolla. Attendance is free and open to the public, though advance registration is required.
What's on the agenda
Panel discussions will focus on four core areas: energy demand and power requirements for next-generation data centers, workforce development and talent pipelines, environmental sustainability, and community impacts of technological expansion.
The forum aims to help state agencies, higher education institutions, industry leaders and local communities understand how emerging technologies will affect Missouri's economy and infrastructure needs.
Why Missouri S&T is hosting
Missouri S&T Chancellor Mohammad Dehghani said the university's engineering and technology programs make it a natural venue for statewide conversations about AI and advanced infrastructure. Dehghani emphasized the need to prepare graduates to enter the workforce with fluency in AI technologies and infrastructure systems.
The event brings together the Missouri Office of Administration, the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Public Service Commission.
For IT and development professionals, the discussion aligns with broader industry shifts. Learn more about AI for IT & Development and Generative AI and LLM technologies driving these infrastructure changes.
