Motive Adds AI-Powered Driver Compliance Tools to Workforce Management Platform

Motive expanded its Workforce Management product with new AI capabilities designed to automate driver qualification records and compliance documentation. The features help organizations manage driver licenses, medical cards, timecards, and training records while reducing manual administrative work.

Many fleet operations still rely on spreadsheets, paper records, and disconnected systems to track workforce documentation. Federal audit data shows missing or outdated driver records remain a common compliance issue during reviews.

What the New Features Do

The updated Workforce Management tools include:

  • Integrated motor vehicle records: Centralizes driver record requests and reviews while tracking expiration dates and sending compliance alerts.
  • Driver qualification document checks: Prevents drivers from accessing vehicles or duty status when required documentation is missing or expired.
  • AI-powered document capture: Automatically extracts key information from uploaded licenses, medical cards, and other compliance records for validation.
  • Centralized workforce hub: Connects driver profiles and workforce data in a single dashboard to provide operational insights and flag potential risks.

Reducing Manual Work

Fleet managers currently spend hours each week chasing down driver paperwork, updating spreadsheets, and manually tracking expiration dates. Gilbert Solano, equipment maintenance and support operations manager at Watco, said the platform cuts that burden significantly.

"We used to spend hours every week chasing down driver paperwork, updating spreadsheets, and manually tracking expiration dates just to stay compliant," Solano said. "Now we're able to provide managers with accurate, real-time information."

Motive positioned the Workforce Management tools as part of its broader AI platform for fleet operations. The company said integrating driver records, compliance tracking, and workforce data into one system reduces manual data entry and simplifies compliance oversight.

For operations managers overseeing fleet compliance, understanding how AI Agents & Automation can reduce administrative burden is increasingly relevant. Managers interested in applying these capabilities across their operations may benefit from an AI Learning Path for Operations Managers.
