NetScout Boosts AI-Driven Network Operations with TM Forum’s NeuroNOC
NETSCOUT SYSTEMS, INC., known for its observability, AIOps, cybersecurity, and DDoS protection solutions, recently took part in TM Forum’s NeuroNOC Catalyst project at DTW Ignite 2025. This event set new records with the highest number of Communication Service Providers and countries represented.
TM Forum is a global alliance of telecom and technology companies focused on defining new operating models, partnerships, and advanced software platforms for the industry. The NeuroNOC Catalyst project explored how AI agents, closed-loop automation, and quality network data can enable self-healing telecom operations.
Collaboration and Technology at the Core
The project brought together global leaders such as Amazon Web Services, Accenture, Symphonica, and Sand Technologies, supported by carriers including BT Group, Telecom Argentina, Omantel, Turknet, Axian Telecom, and Safaricom. The initiative showed how AI and automation can speed up fault detection and resolution in live networks.
NETSCOUT contributed its Omnis AI Insights Solution, which includes Omnis AI Sensor and Omnis AI Streamer. These tools deliver high-fidelity telemetry for 5G Standalone Radio Access Network (SA RAN) and Packet Core environments, essential for AI-driven network operations.
- Omnis AI Sensor provides deep packet inspection (DPI)-based, end-to-end network visibility.
- Omnis AI Streamer offers powerful analytics and filtering at the source through an open API-driven dataset.
Practical Impact on Network Operations
In simulated scenarios mimicking service impacts, the solution empowered network operations center (NOC) engineers to quickly identify subscriber registration problems. Using a curated large language model (LLM), they pinpointed root causes and carried out remediation with minimal manual input.
The key takeaway: high-quality curated data is critical for effective AI. Without it, AI models can’t deliver practical results. Proper data curation unlocks better outcomes and improves AI performance.
Efficiency Gains and Cost Reduction
The NeuroNOC project demonstrated potential benefits such as:
- Up to 80% reduction in manual troubleshooting efforts
- Up to 50% decrease in operational costs for communication service providers
- Reduction in data usage and tokenization by AI models like AWS Bedrock by up to 80%, leading to additional savings
According to Richard Fulwiler, Senior Director of Product Management at NETSCOUT and Catalyst participant, “Accurate, real-time curated data is the foundation of intelligent network operations. Without high-quality packet collection across the network, it’s nearly impossible to correlate issues across multiple data streams, determine root causes, and verify automated fixes.”
While fully autonomous networks are still developing, the project highlights how AI agents equipped with real-time, quality data can speed up and improve network issue resolution.
