Omise unveils Omise MCP for autonomous AI payments
Omise has launched Omise MCP, a new way for AI agents to plug directly into its payments stack-without custom API builds. The company operates across Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and the US, and ranks among the top 25 payment processors in the US. The focus is simple: give AI the ability to run real payment tasks securely and at scale.
What is Omise MCP?
Omise MCP connects AI agents to more than 60 payment tools across acceptance, transaction management, subscriptions, transfers, and monitoring. It's built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that enables structured, two-way communication between AI systems and external tools. The result: AI can request, execute, and verify payment operations with clear guardrails.
What AI agents can do now
- Accept payments across cards, banks, e-wallets, and QR
- Issue refunds via a single command
- Automate reconciliation and operational reporting
- Run supplier payouts and manage transfers
- Monitor transactions and surface exceptions
Why it matters for finance and product teams
- Ship faster: use AI agents instead of building and maintaining custom integrations.
- Lower ops load: automate reconciliation, refunds, and payouts with audit-friendly trails.
- Scale cleanly: standardize payment flows across markets without adding complexity.
- Test and learn: spin up new payment flows or billing models with less engineering overhead.
Security and reliability take center stage
"When we built Omise MCP, we started with one non-negotiable principle: it had to be engineered for financial-grade reliability," said Amborish Acharya, group chief technology officer of Omise. "AI can only transform payments if the foundation is secure, predictable, and fault-tolerant at scale."
That foundation includes structured access through MCP, clear permissions, and fail-safe interactions so AI agents behave with the same trust customers expect from established financial systems.
Leadership perspective
"The future of commerce will be defined not only by human potential, but also by how intelligently systems can support our work," said Jun Hasegawa, founder and CEO of Omise. "With Omise MCP, we're not just enabling AI to observe payments, we're enabling it to operate them. This marks the shift from passive fintech to intelligent financial orchestration, where businesses can scale without adding complexity, and consumers experience payments that truly work for them."
Where Omise fits
Omise serves merchants across APAC and the US with a focus on security, performance, and accessibility. With Omise MCP, the company extends that footprint to AI-driven operations, letting teams automate full payment lifecycles-from checkout to reconciliation-through a standardized interface.
