Implementing AI into Your Regulatory Operations: NRCoP QLD Chapter AI Workshop #2
If you run operations, you don't need more theory. You need a way to move from ideas to working pilots that reduce backlog, speed decisions, and free up your team's time.
This in-person roundtable focuses on how to implement AI inside regulatory operations. We'll work through problem framing, stakeholder alignment, and building proofs of concept that actually ship.
What you'll work on
- Translate high-level goals into clear problem statements and measurable outcomes.
- Map the right internal stakeholders and secure buy-in without slowing momentum.
- Design small, low-risk proofs of concept that test value fast.
- Spot common blockers early: data access, privacy, procurement, skills, and change management.
You'll also see current proof-of-concept projects and a real AI solution from Brisbane City Council, so you can benchmark your approach against real work in the field.
Who this is for
Regulatory professionals across local, state, and federal government working in operations, compliance, inspections, investigations, analytics, customer service, or service design. Whether you're starting out or already piloting AI, you'll leave with practical next steps you can run inside your team.

How to get the most value
- Bring one or two live operational problems you want to improve in the next quarter.
- Know your data owners and current constraints (privacy, security, access).
- Have a simple metric in mind: cycle time, first-time resolution, inspection throughput, or case backlog.
Participation in NRCoP activities is for the purpose of connecting and building the professionalism of practising regulators and not for undertaking any form of commercial activity.
Helpful resources
- OAIC guidance on AI and privacy for privacy-by-design in public sector AI.
- Curated AI courses by job function to upskill your team after the workshop.
