PTC Delivers New AI Functionality for Software-Driven Product Development
PTC released Codebeamer 3.2, Codebeamer AI 1.0, and Pure Variants 7.2-focused on stronger traceability, tighter change control, and clearer visibility across the lifecycle. The goal is simple: help teams ship compliant, software-driven products with fewer delays and less rework.

What's new in Codebeamer 3.2 and Pure Variants 7.2
- Digital thread integrations: Connects Codebeamer with PTC's Windchill PLM and other enterprise systems. This reduces manual reconciliation between software and hardware changes, making compliance checks and audits more straightforward.
- Stream Baselines: Capture complete snapshots of all projects within a stream. Teams get consistent baselines, faster identification of relevant states, and smoother change control across large portfolios.
- Review Hub upgrades: Bulk approvals/rejections, clearer notifications, and visual diffs help reviewers move faster with fewer mistakes.
- Feature-Based PLE (with Delta Merge Beta): Automates stream and baseline creation and supports concurrent development across platforms and variants. You can deliver new capabilities at either level while improving reuse across the product line.
Codebeamer AI 1.0: governed assistance where work happens
PTC introduced two AI assistants-Requirements Assistant and Test Case Assistant-embedded in ALM workflows and aligned with established engineering and testing guidance from INCOSE and ISTQB. The outcome: faster authoring, clearer specs, and stronger traceability without adding overhead.
- Requirements Assistant: Detects quality issues (ambiguity, inconsistencies, testability gaps) and helps teams produce clearer, standards-aligned requirements with less dependence on manual reviews.
- Test Case Assistant: Generates and optimizes test cases directly from requirements, improving accuracy and consistency and speeding up validation.
As PTC's AI lead put it, the assistants work alongside engineers in real time, bringing clarity and consistency to everyday decisions so teams can move faster with confidence.
